Understanding WHS fundamentals for compliance & care
Hazards and risks to health and safety can occur for all employees in all workplaces, meaning poor health and safety procedures can potentially result in harm and injury. As such, all members of the workforce have a duty of care to ensure a safe working environment.
This workshop provides an understanding of health and safety responsibilities and how risk is managed using the risk management process. Additionally, it explores common workplace hazards, how to reduce the risks associated with those hazards.
Course Content
The delivery and content of all our workshops is contextualised to the specific needs of the participants and organisation at no additional cost, however, this topic typically includes:
- Why health and safety matter
- Legal and ethical responsibilities of employees and managers
- Key Health and Safety Legislation
- Identifying Hazards and Assessing Risks
- Types of workplace hazards (physical, chemical, biological, etc.)
- Basic principles of risk assessment
- Incident Prevention and Control Measures
- Reporting Incidents and Near Misses
- Familiarity with workplace emergency plans, roles and responsibilities
- Role of leadership and communication in safety
